Dave’s Loaded Fries: Chicken vs Cauliflower
The main topping changes, but the fries, sauces and serving size still matter. Compare the complete dishes.

Dave’s Top-Loaded Fries come in chicken and cauliflower versions at participating restaurants. Both use a loaded-fries format. The main swap is Dave’s chicken Bites for cauliflower Bites. That does not automatically make the cauliflower dish vegan, lower in calories or a better value. Compare the size and the full toppings first.
The Naperville, Illinois menu checked on October 31, 2026 listed both versions at $6.99 for Small, $10.99 for Regular and $15.99 for Large. Other restaurants can show different prices.
What stays the same and what changes?
The official Naperville menu describes fries with cheese sauce, pickles, kale slaw and Dave’s Sauce. The chicken dish uses chicken Bites on top. The cauliflower version uses Cauli Bites in that role.
The shared toppings are a useful starting point because the dishes are more than plain fries with one extra ingredient. Sauce, slaw and cheese affect what you eat as well as which dietary questions need checking. Removing the meat does not remove those additions.
For the wider range of meat-free products, see our NOT Chicken menu guide. For the general loaded-fries sizes, our Top-Loaded Fries guide explains the product format.
Compare the same size
| Checked size | Listed Bites count in either version | Naperville price for either version |
|---|---|---|
| Small | Three chicken or Cauli Bites | $6.99 |
| Regular | Six chicken or Cauli Bites | $10.99 |
| Large | Ten chicken or Cauli Bites | $15.99 |
Matching piece counts do not establish equal weight or equal nutrition. A chicken Bite and a cauliflower Bite are different foods. The amount and shape of the filling can differ even when the package has the same number of pieces.
Think about how you plan to eat the dish. A Small can be considered differently when it accompanies another main than when it is the only food ordered. The word Large is not a fixed promise about how many people it will satisfy.
What the equal local prices mean
At the checked restaurant, choosing cauliflower instead of chicken did not change the listed base price for the same size. It also did not create a discount for avoiding meat. You could choose by your food preference, then review any changes and checkout charges.
Do not mix a Small chicken price with a Regular cauliflower price when deciding which version costs more. Keep the restaurant, size and order method the same. A delivery platform can show a different total from a pickup cart.
A second official location menu showed Regular at $11.99 and Large at $16.99 for both versions in its checked listing. That gives a practical reason to use your own restaurant rather than treating one table as a nationwide price list.
Choose the filling for the meal you want
Chicken is the appropriate version when you want chicken Bites with your loaded fries. Cauliflower offers a different filling for someone who prefers that vegetable-based alternative. Neither menu name tells you how the other ingredients fit a personal diet.
A person who wants separate pieces to dip may prefer an order of Bites beside plain fries instead of a fully assembled loaded dish. That changes the package and price comparison. It may also make sauce amounts easier to control if the selected store offers the desired options.
Use the chicken Bites guide or cauliflower Bites comparison to identify those separate products before adding another dish.
Do not assume cauliflower means vegan
The standard loaded description includes cheese sauce and other dressed toppings. The breaded cauliflower filling also needs its own ingredient check. A vegetable center does not settle the full recipe.
Our vegan options guide explains why NOT Chicken is not a vegan guarantee. The dairy-free guide covers the separate milk question. For a food allergy, check both the ingredients and restaurant preparation before ordering.
If you want changes, review the selected product’s actual customization controls. Do not assume that a request to omit one topping makes the complete dish suitable for a requirement that also concerns the filling or shared equipment.
Nutrition needs a matching product entry
Changing the main topping can change protein, calories and other nutrients, but the menu comparison alone does not establish by how much. Equal price and equal piece count are not nutrition measurements.
Use the official nutrition information hub. Match the product, size and included toppings. If the available document lists a chicken loaded-fries serving without a matching cauliflower row, do not copy that figure onto the cauliflower dish.
Likewise, a smaller portion’s calories cannot automatically be multiplied by the ratio of Bites counts. Fries and sauces may not scale in that same ratio. Our cauliflower nutrition guide distinguishes published standard servings from unsupported estimates.
Heat, sauce and sharing deserve a final check
Read the heat controls offered for the exact loaded product. The available choices may not be identical to a regular tender or slider. Choose a setting that everyone sharing the dish has agreed to, especially if a very hot option is involved.
For sharing, plan how the food will be served. A loaded plate combines fries, toppings and sauce. It is harder to keep ingredients separate after assembly than when they arrive in individual packages. Someone who needs a distinct order should not be left to pick around unwanted components.
Also count what the rest of your meal already includes. Adding loaded fries beside a combo with fries creates a different amount of food from replacing a plain side. Compare the complete order rather than only the extra dish’s base price.
A clear way to make the choice
Pick chicken or cauliflower based on the filling you want. Then match the size, confirm the standard toppings and review any diet or heat requirements. Use the Dave’s Hot Chicken menu to compare the surrounding choices. A useful comparison keeps the whole dish visible instead of treating a cauliflower swap as a promise about cost or nutrition.
